Hi, I’m Martijn Bokma.
I grew up in the '80s, back when the world was still offline, think Commodore 64, cassette tapes, and floppy-disk games. That retro, pixelated vibe still gives me a sense of warmth and nostalgia, and I’m lucky enough to have lived through both the offline and online eras. When the internet arrived in the '90s, it blew my mind and sparked a curiosity about how websites actually worked. That curiosity? It’s what led me to build them myself.
My expertise runs from WordPress (Bedrock, Sage, Timber) to React and Next.js, and from backend PHP to headless CMS setups. I love clean systems as much as clean interfaces, and I’m currently diving into headless CMS solutions, monorepo setups, and AI-driven workflows.
Today, I lead design and development at Matters, a student-driven streaming platform for the Creative Business programme at NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences. Additionally, I design and develop websites and apps for the Media, Commerce, and Entrepreneurship Academy and the Creative Business programme, while teaching design and tech skills to creative business students.
