Hi, I’m Martijn Bokma.
I was born and raised in the 1980s, in a still-offline world of Commodore 64 pixels, cassette tapes, and floppy-disk games. That retro, pixelated era still fills me with nostalgia, and I’m grateful to have experienced both the offline and online worlds. When the internet arrived in the ’90s, it captivated me instantly, sparking a curiosity about how websites worked. That curiosity ultimately led me to build them myself.
My expertise spans WordPress (Bedrock, Sage, Timber) to React and Next.js, and from backend PHP to headless CMS architecture. I value clean systems just as much as clean interfaces, and I’m currently focusing on headless CMS solutions, monorepo setups, and AI-driven workflows.
Today, I lead design and development at Matters, a student-driven streaming platform for the Creative Business programme at NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences. I also design and develop websites and apps for the Media, Commerce, and Entrepreneurship Academy and the Creative Business programme, while teaching design and tech skills to students in the Creative Business programme.
